Barbara Easterlin

Clinical psychologist with expertise in climate change psychology who supports professionals on the front lines of environmental crises.

 

Barbara Easterlin is a clinical psychologist and member of the Community of Researchers and Practitioners in Climate Change Psychology (Climate Change Psychology Community of Scholars and Practitioners), recently established by the American Psychological Association. Until 2020, she also taught at the University of California, Berkeley.

Today, as Co-Executive Director of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America, Barbara plays a key role in supporting professionals on the front lines of environmental crises (journalists, caregivers, farmers and scientists) while helping therapists understand and address these complex issues. 

In parallel, Barbara leads wellness workshops for workers and researchers dealing with climate impacts. She has trained hundreds of therapists on this topic and co-developed a 60-hour Climate Psychology Certification Program, the first and only comprehensive training program for mental health professionals in this field.

Barbara Easterlin, Ph.D. is clinical psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association's newly formed Climate Change Psychology Community of Scholars and Practitioners. Until 2020, Barbara was a member of the UC Berkeley Psychology Department's clinical faculty. Currently, she is the Co-Executive Director of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America, a non-profit dedicated to supporting therapists working at the intersection of mental health and climate change, as well as front-line workers in journalism, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental science. In addition to offering well-being workshops for climate-impacted workers and researchers, she has trained hundreds of therapists on this topic and has co-developed a 60-hour Climate Psychology Certificate Program, the first and only comprehensive training for mental health clinicians on this topic.
